This Week's Recommendations

  1. What Americans drink: Interesting infographs on what Americans drink and how that changes by age and how it has changed over the past fifteen years.

  2. Oneness not just faithfulness: Al Gooderham asks, “What’s the goal of marriage? I wonder how you answer that?”

  3. Should we live together before we get married? Les and Leslie Parrot look at the data to respond (obviously the moral and biblical grounds are much more important), “While cohabitation might seem practical on the surface, research suggests that it’s actually not as good for your relationship as you think. Before you make this life-changing decision, it’s important to think about the potential outcomes.”

  4. The audacity of disability: I love this piece from Andrea Sanborn. She begins, “My son Ben holds tightly to the tissue-paper torch at his Special Olympics meet. He should be settled in a career by now, I think, raising a family and making his mark on the world. But instead he clutches this small honor like it is the real Olympic torch, eyes bright with the seriousness of his duty. His participation in this small Special Olympics ceremony in front of a few parents and caregivers pierces my heart, but it also shouts a message in the afternoon sunshine: I am important. I matter.”

  5. 11 fascinating abandoned islands around the world: Some interesting stories here. And look closely at how ivy has engulfed Houtouwan village in China.
