Lost in Literal

Today I get to share with you another poem from my daughter Camille. This poem is based on Nicodemus’s interaction with Jesus in  John 3:1-15. Enjoy! -John

Lost in Literal

How do I secretly speak with him?

Will he respect my position?

Will he prove and define his laws?

Why does he talk in riddles?

How can a man be born when he is old?

Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb?

What physical ritual must be done?

How do we execute and earn his law?

What does this spirit he speaks of entail?

Where is my right?

How does he live with so much peace?

Why does he gaze on me with pity?

Why doesn't he honor our laws?

Is he greater?

Could this be him?

Has YHWH chosen now?

Who am I that he should want me?

What is man?

Is God now man?

How can these things be?

“Teacher of Israel, you do not understand.

Believe in heavenly things.”
